The impacts of the school run are getting worse
Levels of active travel to school have stayed static and more pupils are being driven to school now than there were 20 years ago! I believe the underlying issue is the lack of rich, actionable, school-run specific data, which is resulting in ineffective one-size fits all solutions being implemented - these do not address specific place-based transport requirements.

Decarbonising the school run: HomeRun wins government funding!
HomeRun have won government funding to create a scalable digital solution that collects, models, and visualises high-resolution school-run data. The Department for Transport grant will enable HomeRun to partner with Essex County Council, to create a system that uses machine-learning to identify schools, areas, and specific journeys that generate the most CO2 and congestion. We’re excited to reveal not one, but two!
Our St Albans’ neighbourhood network, featured in two publications. The first was published in TransportXtr and her sister publication Local Transport Today, an independent journal for transport decision makers. The piece looks at the scheme and the impact it has had in its first year, on the five primary schools and 1,000+ families that have signed up. Results so far show a 4.1% increase in active travel; an 8% increase in journey sharing and a 4.% reduction in car-use. Cli

In the news!
Our Neighbourhood Project in Hampstead has hit the headlines recently. We were in the Ham & High newspaper, discussing the Hampstead school run problem here . The story was picked up by TransportXtra, a trade publication for transport decision makers, here . The pieces looked at how Camden Council is working with us to reduce the impact of the school run at a neighbourhood level, connecting groups of local schools to each other, enabling more sustainable forms of transport.
